An interesting, very specific question!. My experience is that you'll be hard pressed to find extended versions of part 1 of the Weather Report Suite!. The big jamming was saved for the Let It Grow part of the triptich!.
That said I feel that the best version of Weather Report Suite is a tie between 2 Dix Pix versions!. (I have an audience tape from 78 that's killer, but the sound quality is so bad it hurts your ears after awhile)
There's a good 18 minute version on D'sP's vol!. 7 from
England!.
But here's the best nugget: Dick's Pick's vol!. 12 baby! They play a great Weather Report Suite and then jam for a goooood long time!. The Suite + the jam clocks in at over 42 minutes!.!.!. yes that's right, 42 minutes! Happy listening!Www@Enter-QA@Com
