In my opinion, a lot of good songs start out from poetry, or simple verses!. Think about something that effects you emotionally, or something you feel strongly about!.

A lot of good folk song writers tell a story to their song, and I find that songs are effective when it is a story or poetry put to music!. It may work for you!.
Something that my also help is to listen to songs you find influential, think about why you like them or why they strike a certain chord in you!. Let that also influence you!. Don't copy the style, but let the influence rub off on you somewhat when you start to write your own song!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You can't force inspiration: it'll just come to you!. But if you look and pay attention to what's going on around you inspiration may pop up!. You can write about personal experiences, friends, etc!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
