Answers:
Yes, hip hop is a culture that I've been a part of for over two decades!. Sure, part of it is music but it's also an attitude, a lifestyle, an philosophy, an appreciation of arts and a state of mind!.

And boo to Secular Patriot!. Hip hop doesn't do those things you say; certain people within hip hop do it!. It is unfair to blame the whole for what is done by only a part!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

culture: "the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively"

In the early 70s, Afrika Bambaataa founded the Zulu Nation that united a very impoverished Bronx, NYC!. It was united under very early Hip-hop music, which was pioneered by DJ Kool Herc who extended the musical "break" by dropping the needle back onto itself on the record!. It was DJs(music), MCs(words), Graffiti(art) and Break Dancing(dance)!. All under the founding principles of:
PEACE!. LOVE!. UNITY!. HAVING FUN!.

If Hip-hop is a culture, so is every other genre of music that typically has it's own fashion, music, lifestyle and swagger!. The difference with hip-hop is that it's all encompassing of most inner city lifestyles!. It's competition and creativity!.!.!.at least it was in the early 90s and before!. I see it as a culture of it's own, but I don't think presently it's viewed as a generally positive culture by the general public!.

Rap has become the forefront of hip-hop!. Because it's verbal, and there are thousands of rappers, the word is somewhat cheapened!. In reference to mainstream Radio rap, Hip-hop looses much of the culture it had!. Hip-hop as a culture hasn't manifested itself positively in the last 15 years or so because of the shift in content and business exploitation[MTV & Radio]!.

"That's why gangsta rhymers ain't inspired/Heinous crimes help record sales more than creative lines"
Nas - Can't Forget About You

Hip-hop culture, as known by the masses, is determined by big business!. MTV and Radio doesn't uphold the founding principles of Hip-hop culture's first organizer!. It usually doesn't represent peace, but violence!. It usually doesn't represent love, but lust!. It sometimes represents unity to only those similar to one's style!. It does represent having fun!.!.!.but at the cost of the other 3 severely lacking!.

Hopefully, Hip-hop as a culture will be able to utilize technology to revive the positive aspects of the culture!.

I attended a lecture by KRS-One and he spoke about Hip-hop as a culture!. Although I don't agree with everything he says because his definition of Hip-hop is ALL encompassing to everything it seems like, he is right about it being a culture!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Ok, let's get something straight!. Hip hop is a culture---KRS-ONE has been saying that from the onset!. The very elements of Hip Hop indicates that it's a culture: MCing, Graffiti or Tagging, B-Boying or Breakdancing, and DJing!. Each element involves a comprehensive set of identifiers and symbols which are critical to the development and recognition of any culture!.

also, Hip Hop is becoming a discipline of study in many colleges and universities!. Academicians are teaching courses that discuss the dynamic impact that Hip Hop has had on the world from social, economic, ethnic, and cultural perspectives!. It was first regarded as a passing fad, but no passing fad has had the ability to give a 'voice to the voiceless' in the way that Hip Hop has!.

This mess that we're seeing now is NOT Hip Hop instead it is capitalism and greed at its best; a straight up and down 'pimp and hoe' type system!. The pimps (major record labels) dress the hoes up (lame *** rappers) and put them to work 'on the streets', flaunting BS rhymes, dysfunctional behavior, wack dances (I could just slap Soldja Boy), and give them enough money to buy all the extravangance they need to compensate their guilt for selling their souls!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes because in the music the rappers sing about their problems, their lives, their thoughts, their feelings, etc!. Therefore I firmly beleive it's representative of a "culture"!.

Just like back in the 70's and the bell bottom jeans, war, long hair, hippy movement, and on the singers were talking about a unique culture just as rappers do!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

secular patriot - "it's a stain" so is preaching what is right and wrong!.

That's exactly what hip hop is!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

yes!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Rap culture is a danger to the 21st century!.!. It should be banned for it's inherently gross indecency and depravity!. No culture celebrates the degradation of women and extreme violence like the Rap culture!.

Rap culture is a mockery of the American way of life!. It is truly a sickening stain on this nation!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
