The acoustic guitar will hurt your fingers substantially longer than electric, with practice your fingers will develop callouses which will stop them from hurting!.

You will develop callouses much quicker playing for a short while every day rather than a long session weekly, so just play often for a shorter period of time!.

The pain does go away quite quickly with practice!.!. I promise!!

its building callusis which is a very painful process to go through but 2 tips:

1) Dont stop playing, because your fingers need to be stregthened for strong skin on the tips of the fingers to play better

2) When its very painful, grab a cup and fill it up with cold water!. Dip your hand in that cold water and let the pain ease for a little bit, it wont stop the pain, but it will ease itWww@Enter-QA@Com

You need to keep playing for them to become calluses (dead skin)!. There are other ways to stop it hurting, such as putting superglue on the ends of your fingers, or wearing plasters, but I don't recommend it as you'll have to do this each time you play, because your fingers will never be used to it!.

When my boyfriend started playing the guitar, the ends of his fingers nearly went black, but he's fine now!

Just stick with it, it'll get easier!Www@Enter-QA@Com

You might want to try a lighter gauge string!. also, you should make sure that your guitar is set up properly and that the action isn't too high!. High action requires more force to fret the strings which might be contributing to your finger pain!. It's not uncommon for beginners' guitars to be incorrectly set up!. Typically the music store where you bought it will set it up for little or no cost!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

if it does hurt, then you're definitely on the right track!!

less painful!?!.!.!. well!.!.!.
its really like that, but hey! no pain no gain, ryt!?!.!.

try replacing the strings of your guitar to softer strings!.!.

also, notice the distance of the strings from the fret!? if the distance is somewhat far (like you can fit your ear through it!),
then lessen the distance so it'll be easier to press down!.!.

but in time, you'll get used to it!.!.!.
your fingertips will hard enough to press those strings!.!.!.
that what happened to mine!.!.

good luck!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes, you are doing this right!. It does take time and lots of practice, but your finger tips will stop hurting!.

It really is a case of practice, practice and more practice!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

it hurts really bad when your starting out however eventually your finger tip will develop harder skin which will make playing easier and more comfortable, but if your fingers are not adapting to your new chose Hobie then i suggest using a pick or you thumb as this is a much more common strumming technique!. Hope this helped!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It really depends what kind of guitar your using because it usually takes size weeks to settle in!.
I know what your going through i have been through it so dont worry soon it will be over your fingers just aren't used to it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

There's no way to stop the pain!.

When I was learning to play, I think I had blisters on my thumb & index finger for about 6 months, the more you practice, the stronger your fingers will become!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Your fingers will eventually become a bit harder at the end and it wont hurt anymore, the best thing you can do is keep practising!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

You fingers will hurt for a while until they develop callouses!. Most beginning guitar players also press down with more pressure than is needed!. Just keep with it and it will get better!Www@Enter-QA@Com

No pain, no gain!.
You have to build your finger strength and caluses on your fingers!. Take a break for a coup[e days!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
