there's nothing wrong with guitar hero!. the reason people say stay away from it whilst learning guitar is because it confuses you!. i played real guitar before i ever tried guitar hero, and i just CAN'T do the video game!. since the fingerings are different, actual guitarists sometimes can't figure out guitar hero!. it may slow you down if you play both at once!. :)
EDIT: i also agree that playing the video game is NOT playing real guitar, and it is not that easy!. there's something that feels more rewarding to me about "YES, i finally got that badass chord!" then "OMG! i can reach the blue button!!"Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well in terms of learning to play guitar, guitar hero won't help at all!. I do think it's cool for little kids to get interested in guitar and rock, people say stay away because some kids think they are actually playing guitar when they play guitar hero!.!.!.!. but you have to remember these are little kids, it's harmless for them to pretend for a while before actually being handed a guitar after a few months!.

is some people think that music is really that easy, plug it in, turn it on, and anyone can be a star!.
That's fine, as long as you understand that Guitar Hero is just a game!.
It doesn't teach you about real music, any or more than Car/Racing games teach you how to race in NA$CAR or Indy cars!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

There's nothing wrong with Guitar Hero but if you want to learn how to play a REAL guitar, then you must practise on one!. Being able to play "Welcome To The Jungle" flawlessly on the Expert level doesn't mean you can play it on the real thing without practise!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

its a game, nothing wrong with it, but people who can play that game think they know how to play a guitar and no they cant!. They need to pick up a real guitar and learn that way!.

I don't have problems with people playing Guitar Hero!. I just don't want people thinking that they can actually play a real guitar because they are good at playing Guitar Hero!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
I believe some people see the Guitar Hero games as a "Sell Out" of sorts to music!. Or maybe it's popularity annoys them for other reasons, particularly the users in this section who hate video games altogether!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
