That's the guitar I'm gonna grab soon, and was wondering what all I need to get with it to help me with a rock/pop rock/ punk rock/ metal sound!. Learning is obviously one step, patience too!. But equipment-wise, what do I need!?
Any advice on learning guitar, any great sites to go to!?

Dude, you really just need your guitar and a small practice amp to get started!. The Les Paul is a good choice!. Epiphone makes great, inexpensive guitars for beginners!.
Later on, you might want to buy an effects pedal like a phaser or flanger to mess around with!. They are real fun to play with and you can get some wicked cool sounds!. Distortion pedals are also very interesting!.

from what i hear from some people, its a decent guitar from others i hear its a cheap gibson remake!. if i were u, i'd be on the safe side and get like a fender stratocaster if you're a beginner!. its relatively inexpensive and a very good instrument!. after all hendrix used it!.
in terms of equipment, all the cables are needed as well as a good amp to project the sound!. get extra strings and if you can't tune well an electric tuner!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

first of all get a noise gate ,nobody likes a guitarist who lives on annoying feedback!. second, buy a line 6 spider amp, possibly the best amp to own ,better than marshalls!. third, get Monster cables, they last a long time!. DR strings, Fender heavy picks!. and listen to good guitarist!. not fast!. Speed isn't everything, well it is ,but you want to sound good when you're going fast!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Excellent choice first off!. Epi LPs are good guitars!. You'll need an amp, a wah, and various other effects (i recommend Boss)!.
Epi LP - You can purchase the American pickups that are used in the Gibson LP for around $140 and improve your sound immensely!. Look into that quickly!.!.!.!.
Amp - Marshall, Mesa, and Peavey tube driven distortion is the best you're gonna get!. Fender amps give the best clean tones I've found!. All of these amps are in the $1000 range!. Plus you'll need a cabinet!. For a screamer model amp 1/2 the price, I would recommend a Vox AD100VTH!. Most model amps are crap, but Vox did something right with this one!.
Effects - Wah, Digital Delay, Chorus, Reverb, Flanger, and Phaser are all very popular effects you may look into having!.
