How often are basset horns used in modern orchestras?!

Question: How often are basset horns used in modern orchestras!?
Answers:
Only when works that require them are progammed (eg Mozart Requiem, some works by Richard Strauss)!. They are not a regular incumbent of the woodwind section and are only brought in when necessary!.

Edit: I have to respond to legendiv !.!.!. who is giving incorrect information!. The basset horn was NOT replaced by the clarinet!. They are both members of the same family and co-existed (in some works you will find both basset horns AND clarinets)!. The Mozart Clarinet Concerto is NEVER played on a basset horn but a BASSET CLARINET - a completely different instrument - a clarinet in A with an extended range down to written low C (the basset horn is in F, a major third lower!)!. While it is true that many instances of finding basset horns in the woodwind sectrion will be in period-instrument orchestras, there are also plenty of modern basset horns which you will find in the works of composers like Richard Strauss from the late 19th/early 20th centuries!. If you're not sure of your facts, please don't post them, eh!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

ON in period ensembles or if someone specifically writes for the instrument!. Sounding like the clarinet, it was replaced by many including Mozart for the thinner instrument in late 1700s!. I've heard the Mozart Clarinet concerto played on the basset horn!. Very similar in sound!. The horn is not visually appealing, sort of like kissing a stork!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
