Try writing how you feel!. That way the words come naturally!. Whenever I write, I like my first draft to be as free as possible!. Don't worry about meter, rhyme, or anything else; just write!. Then look at it the next day and revise it so it sounds the way you want it to!. Finally, add the music to go with the lyrics!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The most important thing is to write a pleasing melody!. Your lyrics will essentially be meaningless if not conveyed in a way the listener wants to hear them!.
The melody needs to work in cadence with the lyrics you wrote, and should sound as pleasing to the ear when sung verbally as it does when the melody is plucked out on an instrument!.
Then, write a pleasing chord progression based on this melody, that harmonizes with the melody!. This is easier than it sounds, and you'll quickly realize that the notes C, E, G harmonize with C chords, and you can learn where to place dissonant notes within the chords without them sounding disonant!.
Then, work on rhythm and harmony!. The rhythm, for the above styles, should be easily dancable!. Harmony is extras you put in - more parts that coincide with and flesh out your song!.
also, for the above styles, develop hooks, which will make them catchier, more memorable pieces!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Here is what I told another person:

Big & Rich wrote a book called All Access Big & Rich and in it they give the following tips to writting a good song (John Rich is espicaillly good at writting songs):

1) The first line has to be memorable and make the reader want to hear the rest of the song (i!.e!. "I may never, be the Barbie doll type!.!.!. - Here For the Party, Gretchen Wilson)!. No cliches unless you want the listener to tune out!.

2)Find the rhythm of the song as well as the lyrics (musicians call it a pocket)!. This can be also known as the groove of the song!.

3) If you just watch waht happens in the world around you and/or your life at any point, you could find something to write about!. A song could be about something you noticed about the world like homelessness, or it could be something that happened to you like a death of somone close to you, or it could be about something that happened to a friend or family member, like they got their heart broken by someone they were dateing!.

Hope this helps you!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well!.!.!. if you want to write a hip hop song use limited vocabulary (all of them meaning sex, though) and random references to violence!. WHALAA! As for pop rock (Right!? Not pop, rock I assume) write about your failed relationships and how your life stands out among all the other ones as being terrible!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well first of all never force it!.!.!. If your really wanting something worth while you're going to have to dig deep!. This should come natural especially with some practice!.!.!. Personally I like to get away somewhere with a pad of paper and just try to jot down some ideas!.!.!. If the lyrics come then all the better but just getting some ideas is a start!.!. Don't bother rushing it unless it just all starts pouring out!.!.!. Sometimes I may go for days with only a line or two then all of a sudden my pencil wont write fast enough!.!.!. I think like everything it takes practice!.!. Keep a mind set of artistry and reflection and look to other areas of creativity to get those juices going!.!. Good Luck!!Www@Enter-QA@Com
