UK was last in the Eurovision Song Contest. Do you think it was rigged?!

Question: UK was last in the Eurovision Song Contest!. Do you think it was rigged!?
Answers:
I don't think it's rigged, but there's no doubt that the songs we've put in have been basically crap for a decade or more!. This year's was totally forgettable and Andy Abrahams is capable of a lot better than that!. Having said that, the song was worth more than the few points it got insofar as much worse ones did a lot better!.

Nevertheless, the political voting has reached the point where it's ruined my enjoyment of the programme and I've been watching Eurovision since the days it was still shown in black & white!. There wasn't a decent song in the entire line-up tonight, the only one I would have liked to have heard again was the Latvian entry, the one with the pirates, mainly because the show was so boring I fell asleep several songs before it and only caught the last part!. It seemed to be the only decent song in the entire bunch!.

I think it's time all these weird countries nobody has even heard of are all grouped together into just one or two 'territories'!. That might even mean that everyone can enter, rather than almost half never getting a chance!. Most years the best songs are in the group that never make it!. Let's face it, but for our automatic entry, we'd never make it either!.

And another easy way to solve it - no one can vote for a country they share a border with!. That would get rid of a lot of the political voting!. Not all of it, but maybe enough to make a difference!.

As Terry said tonight, it's not funny anymore and something needs to be done and done fast, otherwise I think it's time to think seriously about scrapping the entire thing!. It's a total farce and it never used to be!. The songs were a lot better in the early days, because they had to try a lot harder!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No it was not rigged!. It is simply a sad sign of the times!.

The ONLY way to 'force' the contest back to be genuinely about the MUSIC, is to!.!.!. (& this will never happen, as it's such a money spinner now), NOT have ANY public voting!.!. only a single judge representing each country (like gynmastics or ice skating)!.!. Where ONLY their professional oppinion as to the quality of each song counts!.
That way!.!. it will come across as blatanly obvious if one judge gives a neighbouring country high or maximum points, especially if it is audibly obvious that a song is ****! Then an overseeing Eurovision master judge can have the power to 'DISQUALIFY' that countrie's vote(s)!.
So in an honestly run competition, a song that clearly rises above the rest, irispective of how hated or not cared for that country is, would genuinely win based solely on the merits of the music & nothing else!.

I seem to vaguely remember a long time ago, that THIS IS how they used to vote !.!.!. i!.e!. a panel made up of ONE representative 'expert' from each participating country!.

Of course this will never be put back in place, as phoning & texting generates millions in cash now!. So all the 'sheep' get to choose each other!. Baaaaaah Baaaaaaah
*sigh* oh well!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't think that it was rigged, but every country on Eurovision will vote with their political interests in mind!. This normally means voting for a strong foreign power such as Russia (who not so coincidentally won) and your neighbours!. As the UK is an island and our only neighbour is Ireland, it can't count on many votes from any other country except Ireland!. Sad but true! (It didn't help that the performance was far from brilliant this year!)Www@Enter-QA@Com

with many new countries emerging it is impossible to vote decently nowadays! Eurovision is so politicised!. no one phones for music!.!.!. it s all about ethnicities and historical ties and immigration!.!.!.!. :( too bad really!.
and that is no matter how good a song isWww@Enter-QA@Com

Eurovision is not worth watching any more!. Its all very political and the eastern sector always vote for each other!.I thought this was the most terrible of all the eurovision comptitions we have ever had!. It was a thousand times better when Terry Wogan was in charge!. they ought to make new rules and ban anyone voting for their neighbouring country or for political reasons!. Perhaps a better idea would be to have a Eurovision contest for the Western side of Europe separate to the Eastern as the singing is completely of a different nature to what we are used toWww@Enter-QA@Com

Gah!.
The voting in the Eurovision Song contest is POLITICAL!.
Each country votes for their neighbour!. Since the UK isn't really near another country we don't get the votes!. No point us being there, it is just embarrasing!.
So, no, the votes are not rigged!.
It is political voting, when will people see!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm not sure 'rigged' is the right word, but it's never fair, and never surprising!. It's all political, and I really can't believe there are people that still can't see that!. I'll be very surprised if a western country wins again, and to be honest, I think a lot of countries will follow in Austria's footsteps and withdraw from the competition completely!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's not rigged, and it's not that we are unpopular!.

You cannot vote for your own country, *unless* you are in another country - and just think how many economic migrants from the EU we have in Britain!. They will have all been voting for their home country, or one of their neighbours!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No I think the BBC arrange for a mediocre entry as they do not really want the UK to win, because winning it means they will have to spend a lot of our licence money on providing the next Eurovision contest in the UK!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

oh no i missed it this year, who won!?

Russia!? this contest has more countries from eastern europe anyway, apart from France the UK Spain Portugal, where are Italy Belgium SwitzerlandWww@Enter-QA@Com

Not rigged - lots of tactical voting though as usual !!!
Russia won this year!.
Not a bad song and the lead singer's not bad either ! lol!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's not rigged!. There's just alot of neighbourly voting going on and UK are just unpopular in Europe and somehow we got votes from San Marino and IrelandWww@Enter-QA@Com

everyone votes for their neighbouring country and is all about politics now, Ireland always gives uk votes but the rest of europe vote for each otherWww@Enter-QA@Com

it didnt need to be rigged

its just about who supports who politically

and noone seems to like the uk

thats what we get for being americas b*tch!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

no it wasnt rigged!.!.!.!. i dont think we should be making excuses for our poor performances every year !.!.!.

we got what we deserved (as usual)Www@Enter-QA@Com

The votings all about politics not the music which is totally wrong!. We shudda won our song was the best!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Might have helped if the guy sang it instead of mimed rather badly!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No we furally deserved it!Www@Enter-QA@Com

probably notWww@Enter-QA@Com
