Answers:
Miserere is not a song and as a piece has been written many times by many musicians (Josquin being my favorite but that can't be the piece this story was about because it was famous from day one; Martin Luther loves that piece)!. When he was 9 he went to see a recital of this piece of complex 8 voiced polyphonic music!. This means there are 8 simaultaneous melodies going on at the same time and your ear can't attach to a single one (well you can but you have to concentrate)!. No one except the head of whatever church it was had the score and each singer only learned their own part!. He went home and proceeded to write the entire piece down at the age of 9!. This is beyond inhuman!.
He was 7 when he finished his first symphony (even though his father helped him write much of it) and he was 12 with his first opera!. He could learn a full lengthed piano sonata (probaly meaning movement work) when he was 4 in 30 minutes!. When he was older he would compose huge sections of his music in his head and then proceed to write them down meaning there are few correction marks on his paper (as opposed to Beethoven who would change scores just hours before the performance)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

He was not an autistic savant!. He was a genius!. His music is filled with remarkable melodies, is highly original and some of the most beautiful written!. Some of his compositions are literally years ahead of his time!. He wrote 5 violin concerti by the time he was in his early twenties!. He wrote 41 Symphonies, the last six of which are the pinnacle of the classical style!. Other than Beethoven and Bach he is perhaps the greatest composer of all time!. His operas are amongst the best ever written!. I'm afraid Vlado is way of base on this one!. Ravel, as good a composer as he was cannot hold a candle to Wolfie and composed a fraction of the number of masterpieces Mozart created!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Not 8, 5!.
And here is what he wrote when he was 5:

I would also like to add that Mozart was able to write out the parts of an orchestral composition without first writing out the score!.
Before computer technology, most composers had a hard enough time doing it the conventional way!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

He was an autistic savant IMHO with a couple of bright ideas!.

Born in the right place, at the right time!.

Listen to his repertoire and see how repetitious it is!. He uses his ideas OVER and OVER and OVER again till you get sick of it!. Very much like Vivaldi!.

Though he had a brighter mind!.

I am not saying he wasn't a genius!. He was a genius though also an autistic savant!. People make a big deal out of him!.

Here's an example of an autistic savant:

Mozart did the same thing with an aria!.

EDIT: Malcolm, a vast amount of his literature was written in very clearly defined Classical forms!. That is basically what an autistic savant does!. Though you're probably write again! One day, I am going to learn to enjoy his music! Maybe after some horrible happenings! Like what Lili Kraus had to go through! However, I don't even have a TINY fraction of her intelligence!.

Ravel put his efforts into orchestration and harmonic innovations!. He was EXTREMELY meticulous!. Easy bar of his music probably offers 100000 times more instructions than a bar from a Mozart sonata!. I think he could've written a ton but he chose to produce quality music!.

Probably, I'm wrong again! Who cares! I'm young and I want to enjoy my youthful ignorance! LOL! It's part of life, you know!? Experimenting!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well, here's an example!. He listened to the song Miserere which was supposed to not be known by anyone!. There were like 6 different parts, all very complex!. He came home, about 3 hours later, and wrote all the parts COMPLETELY correct!. That's just one of the reasons!. He could repeat pieces backwards after listening to pieces for the first time!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

He was actually 6 when he started, and he composed over 600 pieces of music from piano, opera, chamber, choral, orchestral, and quartets!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

first hr composed his first song when he was 8 and it was the bestWww@Enter-QA@Com
