Hey Davo!. Now you should know by now how much of a VH fan I am!. But!.!.!.
Alex,sorry to say, 'aint much really!. He even took extra lessons from Jeff Porcaro to bring his playing up to par,though I could never really see much improvement!. & his drum sound!?! Too cymbal heavy for my liking!.Those pics you'd see of his kit with all those kick drums and tubes and what have ya were all show!.
Technically he wasn't too good!. Though like any good drummer he played for the music - so I guess in regards to VH,yeah he was good!.
Don't forget studio magic & overdubs played a big part in his drum sound on 1984 onwards!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I would put him above Alex!. Alex's cymbals always sound too washy, and he's too in love with his hi hat!.
