My Sons are 22 & 24!.!.!.!.but when they were younger we talked about what was right and wrong and why it wasn't appropriate!. It wasn't listened to in the house and they understood why!. We didn't tell them once and it was over, we discussed it over and over and over!. Just like with drugs and alcohol, you talk it over and over and over!. What they see and what they hear is their biggest inflence!. You set the rules and you make the rules stick REGARDLESS!!! RULES ARE NOT MADE TO BE BROKEN!!! Ok, now thumbs down me everyone!!! But I should be able to speak my opinion just like you!!! Respect where respect is due!!

And to Rent a Cop ~ when you own your own Business and are succesful and can do as you wish when you wish and have the love and support of your own kids!.!.!.then you can judge who should and shouldn't be on this forum HOLLER!!!! People don't have a beef with you!.!.!.don't start one with them!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

My daughter's only 7, so there's some stuff I don't let her listen to content-wise!. It's not so much the swearing - she knows not to do that anyway - it's just that some stuff I don't think a 7 year old needs to be exposed to!. Eg: I don't mind her hearing a few bad words, but I wouldn't exactly go out my way to play Eazy E or 2 Live Crew records for her!

But she's at that age where she loves all these skinny slutty girl bands, and I think they're a far worse influence than hip hop!.

It makes no difference to me what era it's from though!.

When she's a teenager she can listen to whatever she wants - if I haven't taught her right from wrong by then, that's my bad as a parent!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I have three children and I really do not listen to hip hop around my children!. My children listen to mainly mainstream music (top 40's) on the radio!. And even that needs to be filtered!. Anytime you have a 2 year old walking around talking about "She hit the floor shorty got low low low low low" There is a problem (this happened in my home)!. I mainly listen to old school R&B (mixed CD's) around my kids!. 90% of the new hip hop doesn't talk about anything that I want my children to know about!. My kids do like Lupe's Superstar though!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i dont have children, but i'm a teen and my parents let me listen to whatever i want, and i decide what's wrong or right to listen to!. but if you really went up to a teen and asked them what their favorite song is, they would say the one with the best beat and sound, cuz we rarely ever listen to the lyrics to rap songs unless there's a dance that goes with it, and then that's the only part we listen to!. sure, if we did pay attention to the lyrics, we would understand what they mean, and some are very vulgar!. so in my oppinion, i just don't pay much attention to lyrics!. take low by flo rida for example!. i loved that song! still do!. but when i listened to the lyrics for the first time, and payed enough attention, i got this really worried maternal feeling when i heard my 11 year old sister singin it!. sure she had no idea what she was sayin, just memorized the song, but if only she knew!. lolipop is the same way!. it all depends on how you look at it i guess!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I mix it up a lot!. My son listens to a large variety of music!. He enjoys a lot of the new stuff, so I often play the radio for him on the way to drop him off to school!. But he knows in the evening it's either 90's rap, or soul music such as Al Green!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I dont have children but i really dont think you can really ban any one artist its everywhere so i would just make sure my child was educated an knew the roots of hip hop!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

if you are a reg and your children are old enough to listen and comprehend rap music i think you should be spending more time with them then on this sub-category!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
