Answers:
Real, honest-to-goodness jazz pop (not that contrived smooth jazz format- but real crossover, American Top 40 success!?)!. Probably the closest to your list would be either "Funkin' for Jamaica" by Tom Browne or the Maynard Ferguson cover of "Gonna Fly Now ("Rocky" theme)"- both feature trumpet (I know Mangione plays fluegelhorn, but that is a trumpet variant)!.
While not so trumpet-laden, "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy" by the Cannonball Adderley sextet and "also Sprach Zarathustra ("2001: A Space Odyssey" Theme)" by Deodato also charted; the latter is a bit more ponderous than the other selections, but it is pop music crafted by jazz musicians (likely CTI's biggest commercial success- I had a K-Tel collection that had this tune "back in the day")!.
If vocals don't completely disqualify a tune, I'd also recommend "Is It You!?" by Lee Ritenour with Earth, Wind, and Fire as well as "Just the Two of Us" by Bill Withers and Grover Washington, Jr!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Amy Winehouse !.!. her pre-back to black stuff was better , before all the drugs !.!. http://youtube!.com/watch!?v=-G2t6Uf3boI&f!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
