Question: Opinion wanted about a classic rock band!?
I'm looking for you to pick one artist and try to give specific reasons why you like or dislike them!. Or/and respect or disrespect them!. If you can discuss specific actions of the artist you know about that would be great!. Did you see them in concert!? Would you like to compare that artist with some other!?

Led Zeppelin, I like them and respect them, partially because I absolutely love the music they play, partially because their talent level is off the charts (especially John Paul Jones, the guy even some Zeppelin fans haven't heard of), but also because of why they are criticized!.
People have given them a lot of grief over time for being unoriginal, taking melodies from other songs older songs, etc!. They sampled older songs and admitted that openly!. They wrote songs, such as Going to California for Joni Mitchell, as tributes to other artists and based songs off of their music!. They had the brilliance to recognize excellent music and use it to their benefit openly, without just lazily ripping off superior material like rappers love doing (P-Diddy using Kashmir, Eminem using Dream On, Kanye West using everybody)!.
also, they sing about Lord of the Rings a few times, which my sisters insist is nerdy but I think it's awesome and original!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Genesis: Amazing songs and good musicians in the band!.
Van Halen: They're music video for "Right Now" is amazing!.
ACDC: They came back even after Bon Scott died and still rocked!. Hard rock legends!.
Aerosmith: Joe Perry's amazing guitar solos and Steven Tyler's interesting voice haha!.
Bob Dylan: He's just legend!. His lyrics inspire and the point of them is to get people to think!.
Fleetwood Mac: Catchy songs, good melodies!.

Well, you've got 3 of my equal favourite bands in that list, but I'm going to go with the one I have the most music by, and have actually seen live :~

I've been listening to FM since I was a small child, both the original 1967-1970 incarnation {Peter Green era ~ "Greatest Hits" album}, and the post-1975 band {Buckingham / Nicks era ~ "Rumours", "Tango in the Night", and "Greatest Hits"}!.
I loved what I heard at the time, but it was only when my dad left 13 years ago {taking his CDs with him}, that I *really* started to get into them, and began building a full collection!. Though I am only just now filling in the gaps in the 1967-1970 era, and the 1970 -1975 era!.
What I like about them {other than the well-made transition from Blues-driven Rock to mid-70's AOR / 'Soft'-Rock}, is their skills as musicians, and {post-1975} their lyrics and vocal harmonies!. It wasn't all that common to have more than one vocalist in a band, let alone 3 {all of whom were also songwriters}, and they showed that it could work really well!.
What I dislike about them is the drug culture that they were a part of in the 70's, and the in-fighting that errupted in the 1980's!. And the excesses ~ 5 people do not need one limo each to get to a gig!
I'm too young to have seen them in the 60's and 70's, when they were at their best, but I did see them twice in 2003!.

'Classic Rock' is not a 'status' - it's a time period!. To be considered 'CR', a band or artist must have originated between 1960 - 1979!. As such, they all have a right to be on that list, with the obvious exception of Madonna {who isn't even Rock}, and Ozzy, who only went solo in 1980!.
