Would it be cheaper to refurbish an old student flute or buy a new one?!

Question: Would it be cheaper to refurbish an old student flute or buy a new one!?
I've been thinking about playing flute again!.

I have a 25-year-old Selmer Bundy flute that I abused in high school!. The cork and pads have never been changed, and I can't say I was all that diligent about cleaning it or keeping the screws tight!.

Approximately how much would it cost to replace the cork and pads and get this thing into playing shape!? I've found brand new student flutes on Ebay for $130 out the door, so I'm wondering if it would just be cheaper to buy a new one!.

Thanks!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I am a professional flutist and flute teacher!. Do not waste a NICKEL on the Selmer!. Neither will anyone buy it - you got your start on it, and maybe you can make it into a lamp - that is about it!. Get a good used Jupiter, Emerson, Pearl or the always-popular Yamaha!. You can spend WELL under a grand - even with getting it fixed, you can do this, with good shopping, for a few hundred, and then move up later!. Have someone help you shop - YES, you can find some good flutes on ebay, but they will need fixing!. I have bought dozens, gotten them fixed, and resold them to students - EVERYBODY winds!. I have 5 right here now that are got off eBay, and will get fixed next week - they will be sold soon!. But - I know what I am doing!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I would say that you should just buy a new one!.
Flutes usualy cost about $1000 - $2000

Fixing is more expensive than buying a new one!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
