Question: Starting a band!?!?!?
I play guitar and can sing and have written a few songs, none of my frinds play instruments yet, but they are learning

When I started a band - once you got the singer, your half way home!. The hardest thing is to find the person who is going to go up there and crank it out!. Learn to play some easy classic rock songs - like some early Stones - think the first 2 songs we learned (and I had to sing, cause someone I was elected the singer and bass player - of which I knew nothing about) was "Hang Five" and "Good Love" (the Greatful Dead Version) - then the third song, "Surrender" from Cheap Trick!.
The reason you want to learn some sort of basic tunes - not just because they are easy to play but the excitement of playing something and it "sounds like the song"!. I mean everyone can play notes or sing the words but the moment when it "sounds like a song" - well that's a great feeling!. So with all the frustration that goes into finding a place to play, learning the song, screwing it up over and over - then finally hearing a song THAT YOUR BAND IS PLAYING it very cool!.
The rest is practice!. Just remember - when punk rock started most of the bands couldn't play for crap!. Then by the 3rd record, these same bands that played 3 chords were putting complex songs together - it really comes down to practice,
Lastly, don't get discourage when people criticize your ability to play an instrument!. Usually, it's the people who are jealous of you (because you actually put a playing band together) or can't play themselves!. It doesn't matter how good your band player - BUT HOW GOOD YOU SOUND TOGETHER!. I always hate people who say - Joe Guitar player can't really play - but as long as the band sounds good - that's all that mattersWww@Enter-QA@Com

If you want to make money, you're better off doing something else!. Do you know that on average, a musician will make 25 cents per CD sold!? The wholesale prices are roughly 5-8 bucks!. The label takes most of that, the band splits up like a dollar, and the store makes the rest of the money!. Good luck!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Garage bands man!. That will get someone walking or driving past to notice you, ask if u can play a gig!. There ya go! First gig!. Prove to them that u can play, u get another one!. Another and another until u meet someone real big!. Makes you big!. BANG ur famous!.
