Can't help with the melodic black metal =/

But I love symphonic metal!. My favorite is definitely Nightwish!. I think they sound more "symphonic" with the old singer, Tarja!. So I recommend any of their pre-"Dark Passion Play" albums (although I love DPP, don't get me wrong)!.

Some songs (it kills me to limit myself, because there are so many that I could recommend):
- Deep Silent Complete
- Sleeping Sun
- Ever Dream
- End of All Hope
- Dark Chest of Wonders
- Planet Hell
- Ghost Love Score




Within Temptation is another great symphonic metal band, although some of their songs seem more symphonic rock to me (I know people hate the whole genre debate thing, but I'm not sure how else to explain it)!.

Some songs (again, I'm trying to pick the more "symphonic feeling" ones, but there are SO many good ones):
- Deceiver of Fools
- Jillian (I'd Give My Heart)
- Hand of Sorrow
- Blue Eyes




I've recently heard of Therion, and a lot of their music seems to fit the symphonic metal tag!. However, their singers aren't as "clear"(!?) as I'd like them to be so I haven't really gotten into them yet!. People recommended the album Vovin to me!.




Epica, for sure, is symphonic metal!. I'm eager to hear future albums!.

I don't really care for Leaves' Eyes all that much, it's too "girly"-ish/sad for me, but there are a couple songs to check out by them, and who knows!? You might like them!.

Tarja Turunen is my favorite singer ever (she's Nightwish's old singer), so I have to recommend her new solo album, My Winter Storm, to you!. ;D
