Answers:
I have a 1966 Fender Jazz, with a rosewood fingerboard!. I was really stupid and painted the body in the early 1970's!.
In hindsight I wish I hadn't been so silly!.

I also have a rare 1968 Fender Telecaster bass!. Fender only produced these for a few years starting in 1967, and through the 70's for awhile!. Thank God I never f*cked with that!

I would recommend leaving your bass stock!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't think it's a good idea to paint it!. Why exactly do you want to!? What do you have against the color!?

Anyways if you really want it a different color then just sell it and buy one in the color you want, or trade it in!. If you INSIST on having it painted make sure you have a professional do it, don't do it yourself!. You can really mess it up though, I really hope you don't decide to do this!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You should ask a luthier if he can recommend something!. I don't think it's a great idea to paint the neck--especially the fretboard!. If you do, it's probably going to take a good bit of work to strip off the existing finish and frets--then put it all back together!. Probably will make the tone suffer too!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

sand down the paint

apply a few coats of undercoat using undercoat spray paint

use nitrocellulose lacquer spray paint for the colour

do a few coats

apply a clear gloss lacquer to protect and give shineWww@Enter-QA@Com

dont paint it!.
leave it alone!.
if you have it all original for 25 years, it will be worth BANK!.

you paint it, you ruin it!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Are you painting th fret board, or just the neck!? Do not paint the fret board if that's what you mean, it will ruin the soundWww@Enter-QA@Com

If You Paint Your Guitar Its Gonna Mess Up The Tone

Just Go Online And Sell Yours And Then Buy A Black One

Or Go To Guitar Center And See If They Will Trade YouWww@Enter-QA@Com

Don't paint that! If that's original, there is no need! Leave it the way it is and appreciate it's beauty!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I wouldn't change it personallyWww@Enter-QA@Com

You shouldn't paint your bass!. That is cruel to the fish!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

LEAVE IT ORIGINAL ! What the **** is wrong with you!!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I've always had a soft spot for the sunburst finish!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
