I would have to go with Tool as well because their sound is more diverse!. Picking up a Tool album, you really don't know what to expect because their sound varies from song to song which I find cool and more enjoyable!. I hate picking up a CD and every song that sounds exactly the same!. I like Avenged Sevenfold a little, but they really haven't come out with anything that just blew me away!. Their songs all kinda sound the same except for their slow ones like Sieze The Day or Almost Easy!. And their old stuff is irritating in my oppinion!. I would gladly take Sober or Roseta Stoned (my favorites from Tool) over Bat Country or Almost Easy (my favorites from Avenged Sevenfold)Www@Enter-QA@Com
Tool's lyrics get very philosophical sometimes!. The songs are very deep and mix well with its lyrics and the context!. Tool has very talented members too- one member started the side project A Perfect Circle, which I personally like more than Tool!. It is more into Art Rock instead of Progressive!.
On the other hand, A7X has a very unique style of music!. The melodies have a medieval like theme touch and combines metal with pop very well!. They might as well be the most unique band in its genre!.
I think that Tool is more talented!. But i prefer metalcore bands over the ones of progressive rock!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think they're more raw than A7X but they're more concerned about making music and getting stuff out there than A7X, who takes more time and consideration into what they put in!. (perfect example is A Little Piece of Heaven, with all the instumentals and the way the music is acutally played & set up!.)Www@Enter-QA@Com

I strongly dislike Avenged Sevenfold as well!. The singer's voice really annoys me and they aren't a very talented band and write boring songs!.

This is such a toughie!. I freakin love both bands!. I think the guitar and head-banging ness is Avenged Sevenfold!. But for meaningful, deep, music!. Tool all the way!. I love tool, and A7X, but i think its going to Tool for this one!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Avenged Sevenfold hands down!. As much as I love Tool, Avenged Sevenfold is more talented!. Zacky Vengeance and Synyster Gates are amazing guitarists!. I'm not knocking Adam Jones, he's really good guitarist too, but Zacky and Synyster are more creative!.
I do like Maynard James Keenen's voice a lot more than M!. Shadows, and I whole-heartedly agree that the members of Tool have better personalities than the members of A7X (that's not too hard to accomplish), but I think Tool's music sounds too similar from song to song, especially newer Tool, so I have to give most talented to A7X!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
