Try Beethoven's 5th Symphony, or go see it at a local music center!. Lots of them put on quite a spectacular 4th of July event usually featuring Beethoven's 5th!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Symphony X's older stuff, Michael Harris' stuff, and Yngwie Malmsteen's instrumentals are very good examples of neoclassical, I don't know of any good hardcore old classical ones though!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Modern classical tends to be far more frantic and intense than calm (well Debussy and Bartok are often calm but lots of others aren't)
