Guitar frustrations?!

Question: Guitar frustrations!?
I have been playing for about 4 or 5 months and I don't seem to be getting anywhere!. I know some of the chords out of my head, but I can't play them correctly!.

I feel like I've been playing for 4 months and I'm not getting anywhere!. I showed my friend (who has never even touched a guitar before) how to play a song she really likes and she did it, the exact same way as I did! And I practice, but I'm not getting anywhere!. And I think that is where the frustration is coming in, I just want to play a song, so bad, but the guitar is badly out of tune and I have to look at the chords and they sound wrong, so it's stop, play, stop, play!. And the song sounds horrible! And I just want to be good at something so bad!.

I don't want to quit playing the guitar, I love it, but this is getting so frustrating, b/c I'm always doing something wrong, not pressing hard enough, not playing clear enoug etc!. Any help!?

Persistence my friend!.!.!.
Even though you may feel that you have hit a plateau in that you won't manage to get it, believe me, one day it is just going to sinc!. If this was an easy instrument to play, everyone would be playing it!.
Hand strengthening with a rubber ball for your left hand (or right if you play left-handed) might not be a bad idea!. That helped me a bit!.
As far as memorization, not everyone is going to learn at the exact same pace!. That also will increase with ease in time!.
Don't forget!.!.!.this is a very fun and exciting instrument!. Use it that way!. Have a good time with it!.
You don't necessarily have to play "exactly" as the book shows you!. The sound is what is important!. NOT the position of the hands!. Make it easy on yourself by developing your own style!.

if the guitar is out of tune, tune it, if you can't do it by ear, buy a tuner, or search online guitar tuner, however for that you still have to be able to match the tone that the computer will play

as far as learning to play songs, be patient, don't just learn to play songs, learn to play scales, do fingering exercises, picking exercises, maybe you are hitting the wrong keys, or maybe the songs you are trying to play are tuned differently, when a song is played with a different tuning than standard, it sounds terrible in standard!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Relax princess, Learning the guitar is a long and winding road that never really ends!. I've been playing for over 40 years and still learn something new almost every day!. Are you taking lessons!? If not, i would suggest you give it a try!. I know a lot of people don't think they really need lessons but it can really make a big difference , especially for a beginner!. A live, hands on instructor can help you get through the process a lot smoother!. I've helped a lot of frustrated beginners just like you!. As far as tuning goes that's one of the first things a good teacher will show you how to do properly!. Until you learn to do it yourself here is an online tuner that can help you out!. Good luck and hang in there!
