Question: How is "indie rock" a genre!?
Alot of people say they like indie rock, like it's a genre!. Indie music could be metal, to alternative, to grunge!.!.!.!.and people say the same about underground, they talk about it like its a genre!. Is it a genre!? Well you are correct in your statement, but Indie rock has sort of turned into something less than just Independent music, when you hear the term Indie rock you expect to hear something like, Sherwood, Academy Is!.!., Arctic Monkey, Copeland etc!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
well okay firstly, there are not many independent metal companies, or many metal bands signed to random independent companies either!. that's what the genre got its name from, like all those bands that were influenced by post-punk, garage and new wave and such, and just because this kind of music is not hip enough right now they couldnt be signed in major distributors!.!.!.
so yes it obviously is a genre, and it has lots of sub-genres such as lo-fi, post rock and all that jazz!.!.!.Alice in chains, the Smiths and such are indie rock bands!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Arctic Monkeys, The Bravery!.!.!. stuff like that!. It's really specific and propagated mostly by those [annoying] scenesters!. (Like the ones they talk about in Armor for Sleep's "Williamsburg")!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
