Question: Metal: The Trooper or One!?
I'm not sure if this is a good question!. My friend told me that he says Maiden's Trooper is better then Metallica's One!. I begged to differ, but he refused to believe that!.
What we got here are Maiden's classic and Metallica's classic!. two of the greatest metal bands ever!. Both songs are about war, and are great thrashers!.
But I have to ask you:

One, easilly!. Darker, more theatrical, more varied and technical, with a great, interesting song structure, better lyrics, James' vox is more ominous and powerful, in an understated way!.!.!. it's just an all round better song!. Iron Maiden are to obvious and OTT in the way they perform metal!. It's fun and catchy, and I like it and all, but it just lacks any real depth!. Metallica for the win!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

There is simoly no comparison between the two!.
So I suppose if would simpy come down to which style you prefer!.
I often think of ONE as the epigee of Metallica!.!.!. and While the Trooper is great!.!.!. it ISN"T even Maidens seminal song!.
I'm about as big of a Maiden Nut (they were my first!.!.and still Favorite Metal Band!.!.!.Metallica was my second!.!.!.amd Master of Puppets was my first concert!. Yes!.!.!.I got to see Cliff play live!.!.!.!. amazing) as you will find here!.!.!.!. but I gotta say that yopu would need to compare something off of 7th son to even be remotely similiar to the place Metallica was when they wrote ONE!. the Trooper would compare well to something less polished!.!.!.like off of Kill them All!.
Sorrry for the long analysis!.!.!. but it's what I do!.!.!.and the only answers you are going to get are peoples opinion!.!.!.based mostly on which band they like more!.!.!. because as I said!.!.!.their are really no similarities to compare the two on!.
(PS!.!.the Trooper is one of my all time favorite songs period!.!.!.!. but One tis a more complex piece!. the Trooper is a historical song telling about the Crimean war!.!.!.while One is essentially an Anti-war song!. Two totally different styles!.!.!.etc)
