Answers:
Well, it really depends on how long you've been playing and how much you practice!.

Personally, I wouldn't care if I was good at the violin or not, so long as I like playing!. That is why you started right!? Because you liked the violin!.

One thing that I would do (but I haven't done it myself, really want to though) is record yourself at one point playing a piece or whatnot!. Then, hear yourself a full year later and see how much you've improved!. Musicians can never really notice how much they've improved unless they hear how they sound years back!. I still feel like I'm at the same level than I was 5 years ago, but I know that I'm probably not!.

As for the difference between soloist and orchestra member!.!.!.Orchestra member is when you're part of a violin section like first or second violin!. That, in turn, is part of an orchestra with various other instruments such as flutes, french horns, bassoons, etc!.

A soloist is when the violinist is shown off!. Usually, they play a concerto that has orchestra in the background, but sometimes there is no background or there is just piano or whatnot!. Almost all of the Suzuki songs are solos!.

Example:

The guy you see a lot here is a soloist!. The people behind him would be part of an orchestra!. (fyi, this song is really hard, it would probably take me months upon months to make this sound decent and I've been playing for 8 years)

I really hope that helped! Keep on playing!Www@Enter-QA@Com

You would know if you are good!.

However, may people erroneously put themselves down, while others think erroneously they are the gift to the world!.

If you can play solo compositions for viol inn and piano and they resemble the quality of professionals!. you are on your way!.

An orchestral violinist in top pro orchestras is also often a soloist as well, who needs a regular placekick and the prestige!. !. An orchestral violinist in a community orchestra can play solos, but often not as well as top pros!. Some in fact are terrible like in the Forest Hills NY Simenon Orchestra, a relic and undermanned and many there are seriously lacking skills necessary to play the repertoire!.

A pro soloist ikon's great sonars and concerto and miscellaneous composition fro the prop repertoire!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
