Did Bob Dylan write House of the Rising Sun? Or is it an old folk song?!

Question: Did Bob Dylan write House of the Rising Sun!? Or is it an old folk song!?
Answers:
no it wasn't the animals and no it wasn't bob Dylan though he was the first to record it!. it was written by Josh White; Nicholas Diablo Ray; Terry Holmes who all added verses and since its a traditional folk song its hard to tell where it comes from but the chord arrangement as we know it Amin to C to D to F to A min to E or E7 was written by Dave Van Ronk who was a very close friend to Dylan and they both heard Woody Guthrie's version but Dylan as i said before was the first to record the Folk /Blues classic on his debut album in 1962 4 years before the animals did there electric rip off of Van Ronk and Dylan's version without permission i might add,the song wasn't copy written at the time but the chord changes definitely were!. If you wanna know more check out the documentary no direction home

To tie all this together in a way Bob Dylan did write House of the Rising Sun as we know it cause if you listen to Wooody and Josh White's version which is the way people used to sing it ,there 2 different songs!. The aggangement that him and Van Ronk came up with is a beautiful peice of music and Dylan did write 2 new verses for the song !.!.!.the one about !.He'd fill his glasses up to the brim etc and one foot on a plat form line so!.IN conclusion I think without Dylan's version we would not be talkin about the Risin sun blues because it really wasnt that great of a song before the chord progression from Amin to E!.

You can still fing Woody's version on the album the immortal Woody Guthrie Golden Classic disc 2 or Dylan's version on his self titled-album Bob Dylan from Columbia recordsWww@Enter-QA@Com

No it's been around a while
"The House of the Rising Sun" is a folk song from the United States!. also called "House of the Rising Sun" or occasionally "Rising Sun Blues", it tells of a life gone wrong in New Orleans!. Depending on the version, the song may be sung from the perspective of a woman or a man!. Two of the best-known renditions of the song are by the English group The Animals in 1964, which was a number one hit in both the United States and United Kingdom, and by Joan Baez in 1959-60
The oldest known existing recording is by versatile Smoky Mountain artists Clarence "Tom" Ashley and Gwen Foster and was made in 1933!. Ashley said he had learned it from his grandfather, Enoch Ashley!. Texas Alexander's The Risin' Sun, which was recorded in 1928, is sometimes mentioned as the first recording, but this is a completely different song!. The Callahan Brothers recorded the song in 1934!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Quite actually "House of the Rising Sun" was rumored to be written by Bob Dylan but at the time it got heard and out there it wasn't copyrighted yet so everyone started to claim the song and copyright it, after a while the copyright offices got tired of too many people claiming it that they just said it's no ones song and it's been like that ever since, anyone can play that song live!.!.!. I believe he wrote it though, its just something he'd write it sounds like it!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
