Question: Which Pink Floyd album should I get!? Which is greatest hits!?

I want to get some Pink Floyd, which one should I get!? Which of them would be considered a Greatest Hits collection, cuz I want some of the stuff that I hear on the radio, although I know with Greatest Hits collections sometimes you miss out on some good music!.
Hopefully I can get an answer before I go to the CD store later today!.

Well, My personal favorite is Meddle!. But if you don't have Dark Side you might wanna pick that one up!.
Edit: If you want all the studio albums you could get their box set "Oh By THe Way" It is expensive, but great for someone like you who has no floyd albums!. I think its running for about $200 on Ebay!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The greatest hits album is called Echoes, but I would avoid getting that!. Echoes has a good selection of songs but some of them are edited down (Echoes and Shine On You Crazy Diamond) are both shorter than the original album versions!.
As for what studio album(s) to get: definately go with the obvious of Dark Side of The Moon and The Wall!. also don't overlook Animals, Meddle or Wish You Were Here!. Most definatel don't overlook the classic Piper At The Gates of Dawn which had the "mad" genious of Syd Barrett!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The official greatest hits album is "Echoes - The Best Of" but some of the songs have been tampered with slightly!. To get the full feel of Floyd I suggest Dark Side of the Moon or Meddle!. Those are the purest Floyd albums that really show what they are all about!. also Dark Side of the Moon flows so well its almost like listening to a 45 minute song!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Their greatest "hits" album is called Echoes but the thing about Pink Floyd is they are a very album oriented band so you won't get the whole Floyd experience by getting Echoes, so get a full album instead!.

Dark Side of the Moon was their runaway killer best zillion-seller ~ brought them into the mainstream in the mid-70s, after their *almost* equally great Meddle, and followed by their cerebral BEST, Wish You Were Here!. And then they came out with The Wall ~ tuneful, intense ~ full of great songs, and tells an interesting story!.
All that said!.!.!.!. Dark Side of the Moon is the one that will hook you for life if the others don't, and has lots of songs you will probably recognize, but any of the other three would be a great introduction to the Floyd!. In fact, if you want to go 'in order', get Meddle first and listen as the magic unfolds!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

"a collection of great dance songs" has a great mix of all their tunes!.!.!.but all their albums are awesome!. animals is great if you like political flavour, or piper at the gates of dawn if you want to try some raw floyd!. no matter what you pick though, you will discover awesomeness!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
