actually, that wasnt really a diss but he DID diss vanilla ice on his other songs (vanilla ice said some sh*t in a magazine to spite me/ then he went and dyed his hair just like me)!. on the topic of dissing other folks (usually white folks), eminem said "Where i came from, you dissed your peers!. When i diss people, it's not because i hate them, its just for fun!. Obviously some of these mother f*ckers dont have a sense of humor!." -interviewed while changing outfits on his "Anger Management Tour"!.
*edit*- i understand your point of view, but you also need to understand Eminem's point of view!. think about rappers such as 50 cent who had gotten mainstream clout by dissing their peers ("How to Rob")!. Jay-z had responded by making a diss record back, but not before telling 50 cent: "i dont like the sh*t you made!.!.!.!.i love the sh*t you made!." there is a little more understanding in hip hop when a young buck comes and disses his elders to gain fame!. when eminem started dissing pop stars like britney spears, fred dirst and even vanilla ice, he was doing it in the spirit of battle rapping!. considering none of the musicians above came from that "battle rap culture", they naturally got offended!. my point is: eminem did what he did for shock value, if what he said made him lose a friend and gain 1,000 fans, i think thats exactly what he wanted!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's because Vanilla Ice was a wannabe gangster, simple!. In Eminems opinion, Vanilla Ice set back legitimate white rappers!. also there are links with Suge Knight who Eminem knows!. Suge Knight, hung Ice over a balcony and forced him to sign over all his contracts to Ice Ice Baby!. Ice peed his pants (really) and is a joke in the rap industry!.
