Answers:
I have a number of posts for answers similar to this over the last couple of months!. For those that follow this category, I have posted this a dozen times, but here are some of the tips that have been posted before for learning to breath from the diaphragm!. This is one of many different techniques that are posted throughout Yahoo Answers, so if this one doesn't work for you, and other answers here don't help, do a search for your question and you will find many ways to do it!.

First off, you want to make sure you're warmed up at all before trying to sing!. I don't mean singing with the radio, but really singing!. There is absolutely nothing that will mess with your throat more than trying to sing without a good warm up, especially your voice, but also the rest of your body should be stretched and warm!.

Start first by warming your breathing apparatus!. This exercise is one of several that will help develop diaphragm breathing, but what I do to train myself to breath correctly is use the following exercise:

Take a large belt and put it loosely around your tummy!. (tight enough only to keep it from falling off!.) Now, become aware of your neck and shoulders and take a deep breath!. Your objective is to make the belt tighten around your belly!. You also want to be aware how it feels around your back and sides, as these muscles should also be in use!. You want to be aware of your neck and shoulders, in that you want to keep them still!. They should not move up, which is the tendency, and they should stay relaxed!.

After you get comfortable with this exercise, you want to work it so that you are not "forcing" a breath!. Open your mouth and then your "tummy" (really your diaphragm) and the air should just fill up your lungs!. You do not have to force or "pump" air in, it just fills the space!. You will hear this referred to as a "Silent Breath!."

Imagine a plastic bottle!. If you place it under water, up side down, and squeeze it, it pushes all the air out, when you let go, and it pulls back to its' normal shape, it fills up with water!. You don't pump water into it, it just fills itself!. Your lungs will do the exact same thing using the exercise above!.

When you take a breath, breath everything out, then take a breath as described above!., and hold it a couple of seconds, then in a controlled hiss, let it out on a count of 8!. By the count of 8, you should have expelled all your air!. breath it out evenly so it is all gone at the end of 8!. Do this 4 times!. Next, repeat the exercise, only hiss out on a count of 12, four times!. Work on this for a week, and slowly increase the count by 4 until you can hiss out your note to a count of 16 without dying!.

Next, do some vocalizations!. Lightly hum a few scales!. followed by some vocalized pitched scales!. Don't try to use any power voice in your warm up!. Sing scales vocalizing all the vowel sound with different consonants!. ME SE WE FE etc!. While singing these scales, be aware of and work on your breathing the same way as you did in warming up your breath!.

Warming up does several things for you!. It gets your blood flowing, let's you get yourself in the correct frame of mind to sing, and more importantly, it loosens up your instrument (your whole body is the instrument used for singing) Failure to warm up will all but guarantee failure in practice!.

Now you are ready to sing!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

always warm up first before so you don't damage your voice!. Practice singing some higher notes than you can normally sing, and lower notes!. This will help you be able to sing higher and lower!. Don't put your hands in your pockets, or sit cross legged!. Don't cross anything because its sounds better!. Sometimes, if your singing words like in or now, its can sound wierd !. My chorus teacher says to sound kind of like an British person!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
