JS Bach..help me understand.?!

Question: JS Bach!.!.help me understand!.!?
In Lute Suite No 4 in E flat (1006), why does Bach employ E sharp throughout instead of just F!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Lisa is correct - tonal composers tend to spell accidentals by their function rather than for ease of reading!. Bach uses E# because that note is part of some triad or seventh chord that utlizes E# as one of the chord members - spelling it as F would destroy the organization by major/minor third!. Often times these accidentals serve as a new or temporary leading tone; in this case E# is the leading tone to what is most likely F# minor!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The suite is in E flat, so it has F sharp all over!. So if he uses F, then it's actually F sharp; if he uses E sharp, then it's a natural F!.

He could also have used a natural F to slip the sharp from the signature, but after that, if he would have wanted the F sharp back (in the same measure) he should have put the sharp sign again (like in the first measure from the example picture)!.
So the E sharp it's like a shortcut for natural F when the signature (tonality) has a F sharp!.

Hope I was clear enough :)Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm not familiar with the piece, so I don't know how helpful I will be, but my best guess is to say that its for theoretical integrity!. He probably is using a V/V or or viidim/V or some similar theoretical device where an F would be incorrect and an E# would be correct!.
