Theres a fairly new band out that has taken metal to a whole new level!. They're called ISIS and there pretty progressive like Tool!. And if you're a big fan of Tool, you'll like Full Circle!.
I've been recently reverting back to the roots of heavy metal and discovered how great bands like Thin Lizzy and Bloodrock were!.
But in regards to modern day terms!.!.!.

the only band really missing from that list is Avenged Sevenfold cause they're really the best band in the world!! (for me anyway!)
