I want to be able to sing!?!
Question: I want to be able to sing!!?
Are some people just gifted and some not so much!?
Everyone can sing!. Fact!.
Just some are REAL BAD lol!. And I'm one of those people!.
I even quit my music course at college because in our second year we were forced to perform a song in front of each other!.!.!.!. singing (to be graded) and because I refused!.!.!. I left!. (I was there for instumental purposes only! I play guitar)
It's not nerves or anything!.!.!. it's just that I have a horrible voice!. I've heard it recorded aswell (when we did group singing)!.!.!. of course I thought i'd be drowned out but during the playback I stuck out from the rest lol!. It was horrible to hear!
Do I just get lessons!? Is it as simple as that!?!?!? I know some of my friends who sing and get lessons!.!.!.!. they never improve though!. They just gain more confidence!. I just want a great voice!. If I did!.!.!. I'd be showing it off!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I am starting to sound like a broken record on most of my answers this afternoon!.!.!.!.!.!. but, the key to singing, even half way decent, is learning how to breath, and sing on top of a steady stream of air!. This alone will fix 80% of any singing issues, especially when first starting out!. It is breathing that sets the foundation of your singing sound!.
Since you play guitar!. (I assume very well since you're majoring in it!.) Consider what is needed to play the guitar well!. Anyone can strum the strings, and with a little work, even get the chords correctly, but what is it that makes good players stand out!. You don't just strum and form the chords!. It's your touch, the amount of pressure you give each string; the finesse you give each chord!. It starts with quality string control!.
The same is true in singing, only it is how you control your voice that allows you to put the same finesse on your voice as you do on your guitar!. Like proper "strumming," that comes from proper breathing!.
I would suggest lessons!. Since you are in a school of music, I suggest you contact the head of the Vocal Pedagogy school and offer yourself as a students student!. The Vocal Pedagogy courses teach the students how to teach voice!. I got two semesters of quality voice lessons for free by doing it this way!. If my teacher had a problem we could not solve, he went to his teacher and got the exercises to fix them!.

Even my voice was horrible at first but then I took music classes and I have improved a lot in past three years!. Now I am one of the most wonderful singer in my school!. If you are not nervous then you can really sing well!. If your voice is not well even after taking music classes then try practicing on your own as I always do!.
