Question: Would Black Thought be more appreciated if he was a solo artist!?
I think Black Thought is one of the ten greatest emcees, but I know most people don't think of him when they're considering the greatest emcees!. My opinion is that it's because he's "Black Thought from The Roots" instead of just "Black Thought!." Do you think he would get more consideration if he was a solo artist, or even if he just occasionally released a solo album while still being a member of The Roots!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think he would have!. Some of the material from Phrenology was material for his first solo and that album is one of my favorite from them!. The kid has charisma and his own swagger which would shine if the band wasn't their!. With that said, I don't won't to think about Black Thought w/o The Roots, it "DON"T FEEL RIGHT"Www@Enter-QA@Com
I don't!. I feel like the idea of The Roots - an emcee and a drummer - was brilliant at the time and was the grounds for most of their success!. A dope emcee rhyming over LIVE instruments with very little studio production involved!? Dope! But I think he should put out a solo album, or !?uestlove should play around with an MPC (or equivalent tool) here and there!. I think his drums are kinda repetitive, and its been done to death!.

Yeah, I think he would!. But then , I think that can apply to a lot of groups - you just get thought of as "that guy from!.!.!." rather than people being fully aware of you in your own right!. Not ALL groups, but some!. So as much as he's respected within that context, I think he could also gain a whole different type of respect as a solo artist!. If that makes any sense!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
I think he is a great emcee with the Roots, but believe that he would really shine on his own!.!.!.on at least 1 solo project!. I first heard him years ago on "Silent Treatment"!. His lyrical content is like none other!. I'd definitely buy the album if he decided to do a solo project!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
