Ibanez Prestige Pick-up Change?!

Question: Ibanez Prestige Pick-up Change!?
Is it possible to get a Ibanez Prestige guitar, then take out its standerd pickups to put in EMG 81s and 85s!? The only thing that makes me think that this wont work is a pick-up in the middle of the two main pickups!.!.!.would that cause problems!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Yes! They should be an easy switch, I stuck an emg 81/85 set in my Ibanez RGT42dxfm, you don't need to get new pickup rings or rout anything out!. Regarding the middle pickup you have a couple of options!. First, emg does make single-coil models, which might fit in there if you want to have a middle pickup!. Or, if you just want the 81/85, then you could remove the middle pickup completely, or unwire it so it's not part of the circuit!. Running active (the emg's) and passive (the stock pickups) pickups together doesn't work very well usually, so unless you know a lot about wiring guitars, or have a good tech, I wouldn't recommend trying to wire active and passive pickups together!. Remember, you also have to put in different volume and tone pots, plus the battery clip and battery, emg's won't work with the stock pots!. You also might need to get a different switch!. It's pretty easy to do pickup swapping, I've done it on all my guitars, but if you're unsure, have pro do it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
