Answers:
Some nu metal bands cross over into post-grunge!.!.!.both kind of drew influences from grunge, but nu metal also had influences from hip-hop, thrash metal, groove metal, and for some bands like Slipknot, death metal!.
Some post-grunge bands do have nu metaly riffs (Seether, Breaking Benjamin, Trapt to be precise), but they lack any hip-hop/electronic influences needed to be called nu metal!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

While both share an emphasis on plodding rhythms and power chord-based riffs, post-grunge tends to have more vocal hooks and is less restricted in terms of instrumentation, ie!. Acoustic songs and strings are mainstays!.
Nu-metal, on the other hand, is more about gritty, downtuned riffs with harsh screaming or singing, and is much more restricted in terms of instrumentation!. You'll very rarely hear a nu-metal song with acoustic guitars, or even clean tone, for that matter!.
To summarize, post-grunge is basically a less heavy, more melodic version of nu-metal (if you can even call it melodic)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
