The artist I like to promote is Schoolly D who was one of my fav rappers growing up!. He got relatively little following and fanfare along the heavyweights like Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Boogie Down Productions, Big Daddy Kane and Run DMC!. But he is the innovator of east coast gangsta rap which influenced the west coast gangsta rap craze (as credited by Ice T himself) and the style also led to the mafioso rap genre!. He put out 8 studio albums between 1985 and 2000, the first 3 I believe are essential for any old school hip hop head!. One of the sickest drum beats of all time came from the 1985 song PSK What Does it Mean!? (link)

Cannibal Ox - Many have heard of them!. Produced by El-P, Vast Aire and Vordul Mega got pretty unique styles and The Cold Vein is a classic album!. "You were a still born baby, your mother didn't want you but you were still born!." - Vast Aire

For those of you that don't know, the Coup is a political hip-hop group from Oakland!. The members are MC/producer Boots Riley, DJ Pam the Funkstress, and former backup MC E-Roc!. When it comes to great political hip-hop, I never hear anybody mention the Coup!. THEY ARE THE MOST UNDERRATED POLITICAL GROUP EVER!!!! And while other obscure political cats like Kam fell by the wayside kinda quick, the Coup has quietly been under the radar since the early '90s!. Their debut album, 1993's Kill My Landlord serves as an introduction to what these guys are all about!. Maybe the Coup fell under the radar because of poor timing!. After all, in '93 the political/Afrocentic fad in hip-hop has already passed and everybody (especially in California) was on that gangsta Dr!. Dre/Snoop tip!. Even New York started to embrace the hardcore murder rap (Bacdafucup, Enta da Stage, Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers)!. Or maybe the Coup fell under the radar due to the fact that they were on the ill-fated underrated, out-of-print hip-hop album asylum that is Wild Pitch Records!. I also asked a Q yesterday!. Asking why Y!A sleeps on Joe Budden!. The only feedback I recieved was from acouple people bashing him on 'Pump it up'!.!.

-He has the best mixtape series in the Industry all-time in 'Mood Muzik' they should be albums!. If you want a good intro to Budden listen to Mood Muzik 2 and 3!.
-He's one of the realest dudes in the industry!.
-Has good subject matter about his personal struggles!.
-Tells a story like not many can do in HH today!.
-Is a lyrical genious!.
-And He does it for the FANS!!!!!
The reason people sleep- (in order)
-He only has one official album!.
-Sum up his career with one club track off his album!.
-G-Unit and Game Fans claim Budden lost in a beef!. So ofcourse they cant like him!.
