This is just such a tough question because what are we using for criteria!? I agree with Bonnie that 2Pac was never a great lyricist and by that measurement he should be nowhere near the top!. But has any rapper ever had a greater impact!?
Personally, Nas is not a legend in my book!. A friend of mine once made the perfect analogy between hip hop and hoops: Nas is the Vince Carter of the rap game!. When he wants to, he can bring it like few ever have and makes you think that he's one of the all time greats!. But there are just too many examples of him coasting for anyone to really place him in the pantheon of legends!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

To me the GOAT is someone who still puts it down from the beginning era of hip hop to the modern day hip hop era!. people that can change with the time and adjust their flow and delivery and keep their lyrics sharp to stay up to par with modern day!.!.!.!.

I totally agree with rent a cop!. I'm a fan of Nas, but I don't think he's the G!.O!.A!.T!. I'd put him on a top 10 list, but not at no!.1!.
And Tupac!. I wouldn't even put him on a top 10 list!. I just don't think he was anythig special as a lyricist and most of his albums were filler!.

i think i am going to have to agree with one of the other answers, about majority of rappers not deserving this title!.
i think theres too many rappers sounding like any other rapper out there!. i also feel subject matter as a whole, has seriously dropped off!. when all we got to talk about is rims and hos , you start losing me!. that stuff might be good to dance to(!?) , but does nothing to withstand the tests of time!.
anyhow, i dont mind you giving me thumbs down, but just know i am a old head!. i was around when it all began!.!.!.

yeah, I would have to agree with most here!.!.!.most (if not all) artist can't be referred to as G!.O!.A!.T (considering that "all time" isn't over yet, I hope that wasn't over you head) we all share favorites but that title should be given to someone that has either a huge body of quality work and has been dead for a while, or a small body of quality work and been dead longer (30years plus to start)
