Ok, so first of all it is very difficult to compare these two genres!. You really shouldn't even compare them because of the difference in culture at the times!. Bob Dylan was a major rebel but by today standards he would seem very mild!. And the question is very general because you may be comparing Led Zeppelin and Fall Out Boy, in which there is no comparison {L!.Z!.} but you could also be comparing Country Joe and The Fish and Rage Against The Machine {RATM} So it is really an impossible answer!.

Classic, without a doubt!. The golden era of rock and roll, back when it was a bit more dangerous and subversive (instead of the sell-outs that keep cropping up today) - much better quality, a LOT better instrumentals/musical ability, better subjects and lyrics!.!.!.

I'd have to say Classic!. I've seen more people, of all ages, dance to classics than to today's "rock" so I think that's a really good sign!.!.!.!.!.apart from my own very good taste!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I like both and I am a die hard metal fan but the classic rock from a talent standpoint blows the new stuff away!. The guitar playing, the drum fill and lines and the bass playing were just amazing in the early days!. Now it just seems like everything is so basic and not very interesting!. Don't get me wrong, there are still some very talented musicians out there but they just don't really show it!. Plus the classic stuff paved the way for the new music!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
