Anyone have advice on the "E" vowel sound on higher notes?!

Question: Anyone have advice on the "E" vowel sound on higher notes!?
I've noticed that, in my upper range, I strain when singing on an E vowel!. How can I approach this to make it as natural as the other vowel sounds!? Thanks!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
oftentimes, our tongues get too tight on us!. If you sing or even say the e vowel ( I'm assuming you mena e as in see) notice where your tongue is!. chances are that some portion of it will be right up against your hard palate ( the roof of your mouth), or pretty darn close!. This cuts down the amount of space the sound can travel through!. If your tongue is bunched up or tense to boot, this cuts down further on the space available for clean resonation of sound!.
Get hold of a mirror, and watch your tongue as you practice the open mouth vowels , Oh, Eh, Ah, Uh ( as in DUH- the ooooh vowel is too closed to see inside your mouth) Notice where your tongue is, and how much tension there might be!. if you can learn to let go some of that in your middle register, then you can start moving up the scale!.
An important bit to watch out for- the tip of your tongue should always be in contact with the lower teeth when singing vowels!. Of course, for consonants, it has to move, but it should be able to get back to the lower teeth in a hurry for the next vowel to sound clean!. As you move up the scale, don't let the tip of the tongue pull back!. You'll find that helps the whole surface of the tongue relax, and you'll be able to open your lower jaw more easily as well!. That gives you the room to let your tongue "lie down" for the E vowel, and your sound will be easier!. Watching yourself in the mirror as a visual aid will help you get the hang of it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

This is what I would suggest!. Find a vowel that feels most open to you in your upper range!. Ah might work or Oh!. As you vocalize up continue to use that open vowel!. Now slowly from that vowel on the same note, change the vowel to E while keeping that open feeling inside!. Keep repeating this!. For example, you could sing on the same note!.!.!.OWE, AHH, EEE, or OHH, AAA, EEEE!. or you could just go from that one vowel sound you choose to EEE!. Keep reminding yourself of how that vowel feels when its open, and give the same openness inside for your E vowel!.

also, you don't have to overcompensate the E sound by manipulating your mouth too much!. As you go up in range, no one is really going to expect you to make a perfect vowel sound!. They just want to hear if it sounds great!. If you notice, most singers in their upper range will manipulate the vowel sound to make the quality better, verses trying to make it the exact vowel sound!. That is what many singers who are categorized in a high vocal fach do to keep the good quality of the tone!.

The main thing is, remember OPENESS inside regardless of the vowel, and you will be successful!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
