I read thru a lot of the answers that were posted to your question!. A vast majority said classic rock because it stood the test of time!. I could not agree more!. So many of the bands nowadays are products of the record companies!. They are one hit wonders!. There is no longevity!. These "bands" appear and disappear before they are even known!. It amazes me how bands that have only been around for a few years get a tribute cd made and yet they have only done 2 or 3 cds!. I do not know much about MCR, but I will say trying to compare them to the Beatles is like comparing a mouse fart with a hurricane!. I am not a Beatles fan but they contributed so much more than 99% of ALL other bands!. MCR did not start a trend or movement!. Most of the contemporary bands cannot even put on a concert that would hold anybody's interest!. Why do you think that old warhorses like KISS can go out and sellout everywhere anytime they choose to!? Because they give the fans their money's worth!. You want to see the greatest show ever!? Well, I personally prefer classic rock, but it's not that fair to say MCR represents modern rock!. There are many much more talented modern bands out there!.
While I personally think that a lot of modern bands aren't on par with classic bands, there IS a reason those bands are classics, they've proven that they can endure the test of time!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You can't compare them!.!.!.because modern rock also has some good bands like Tool, NIN, Foo Fighters, RHCP, Disturbed, and System of a Down while classic rock also has that atrocious hair metal era!.

If you compared classic rock to modern day mainstream rock, then classic rock wins!. However, if you compared undiscovered modern day bands against classic rock, then you would really have to think about which band was better!. For instance, Guns N Roses is a band that everyone knows well, but I don't think that they have as much talent as Eternal Tears of Sorrow, which is an undiscovered band that I enjoy listening to!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The only good rock nowadays is Indie Rock!. There are actually modern indie bands that sound old!. I hate modern commercial rock and modern metal!. It is ridiculous!. Emo pop crap!. But as far as indie goes, theres nothing better now!. You could probably compare The Beatles with an indie band of your choice!. Of course The Beatles didnt have as much technology as we do now, making it harder for them, and besides the fact that they started all the trends, the music would sound similar!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It all depends on which you like best some of my favorite Classic Rock songs are like from Steppen Wolf, The Beatles!. Charlie Daniels Band, and the list goes on and on!. There are some hard core Classic Rock fans, that will tell you the best is Classic Rock!. Be open mined to both forms of music There are a lot of up coming artist in the Modern Rock world that is going places with their type of Music!. Just don't forget where Modern Rock got its roots from!.
You might like to also try some Blues songs from Eric Clapton, BB King, Grand Funk Rail Road, and Jimi Hendrix!. Don't just limit yourself to a couple types of music, expand your taste to other forms as well, you'll find a lot music in other areas that are in good taste as well!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

In general, any band that came out after say!.!.!.!. 1991-1992 (after Nirvana) sucks!. One notable exception is a new band that just had their debut album March 18th called Black Tide!. Their new album is called Light From Above!. Check them out they rock!. They are a very young band!.!.!.!.the lead singer is 15 and the oldest member is 19 or 20!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

not nearly enough time and credit is being given to musicians of today!. it took years and even death for many "classic rock" artists to reach the fame they have today!.
also, music was much more biased 'back in the day' because the radio was pretty much the only way to be discovered and heard!. but now because there is so much opportunity (which also is usually ignored and we selfishly demand that "the man" is bringin' us down and keeping us from being famous) it is a lot harder to discover and weed through many of the artists that exist today!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
