They're both brilliant albums, but I'd have to go with "The Wall"!. So dark, theatrical, over-the-top, and schizophrenic!. And the emotional range is impressive: some of the songs are comical, such as the ones depicting the courtroom scenes towards the end, while others are actually quite moving, like "Is There Anybody Out There", or disturbing, like "Don't Leave Me Now"!. I also feel, as long as we're discussing Floyd, that "Wish You Were Here" is underrated by a lot of people: "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" alone makes that album a masterpiece, and the other songs are great as well!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Dark Side of the Moon!.!.!.it spent years on the Top 200!. In fact, it might still be there!Www@Enter-QA@Com
I would have to opt for The Wall as the Opus, simply because it is one of the great *concept* albums of it's time!. Dark Side is definitely also a classic and I don't mean to imply that it is any worse, but since it is a traditional album format, it was not as groundbreaking!. Wish you were here would also rank up in there with Dark Side, btw!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Dark Side of the Moon!. It's ability to consistently place itself on best selling lists for such a long period is absolutely unmatched by any other album in history!. On top of that it ACTUALLY WORKS playing along Wizard of Oz, which I was skeptical of, but it's awesome!.

To answer your question, "Dark Side of the Moon" definitely!.
I far prefer "Wish You Were Here" personally!. I liken the opening to Pachelbel's "Canon in D" or Ravel's "Bolero"!. They are tunes that evolve on a simple theme and get better as it goes along!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Personally, I think the best Pink Floyd album is 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn' and I also really like 'Saucerful of Secrets'
But 'The Wall' is a true masterpiece, there is no doubt about that!. But!.!.!.if I had to choose between 'The Wall' and 'Darkside of the Moon' I would have to say 'Darkside of the Moon' would be Pink Floyds Opus!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You say popularity doesn't count!. I would still have to say Dark side of the Moon was more of the opus, it was the musical sound and the lyrics!. The Wall was also well written but the music never impressed me like DSOTM!.

The Wall is overcommercialized fluff!. DSOTM on the other hand was a fantastic album, where every single song took you on a new journey!. Animals is my personal favorite, but the work and vision on DSOTM overpowers any of PF's other albums!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
