Question: How can help my voice (throat & chords) be at their optimum functioning state when I sing!?
Sometimes my voice is shaky, weak, and cracks when I try to sing!.!. and then there are times when my voice is as clear and as strong as satchamo's trumpet!. I can never identify what factors have affected my chords so positvely or negatively!. What can I do (environmentally, physically, and digestively) to coax my throat into the prime state I occasionally find it in!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Singing is a vocal exercise!. As with any exercise you should warm up!. Most singers don't!. Therefore, start slow!. Don't go reaching for those high notes at first!. Ease into it!. Usually you'll find, for some reason, the night time is the best time for rehearsing or recording!. The reason is the air!. Most people I know try to schedule their sessions late night!.

Another trick to tighten the vocal chords it to gargle with alum!.
And lay off the dairy products, that builds up phlegm!.

If you have allergies, either rhino (nasal) or sinus, the late afternoon or evening will prove best also!. By then your sinuses have drained on their own, or with the help of a medication!. You may need filters in your studio to keep the air clean, and thus keep your voice at it's optimum!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

had the same prob!.!. its happens when the throught is not lubricated enough and it tends to crack up!.!.!.

a warm(but not very hot) tea with a spoon of bee honey added to it taken a few minutes before you start on singing will be of help!.!.

Try it and see!! :D

That happens to me too!.
There's a few solutions!.

Scenario One:
With friends: Laugh it off and drink a glass or water!.!.!. then continue and see how it goes!.

Scenario Two: Your singing in front of a small group of people:
Chewing Gum!. Just try not to swallow it when you belt out those big notes!.

Scenario Three: Big Crowd
Warm Water & Honey and even just cool water by itself to soothe your throat!. also try not to let the note run down the back of your throat!.!. dont push up at it!.
Let it happen!.

Good luck :)

Keep practicing!. Posture is one main key!. Don't have your hands in your pockets, keep them at your side!. Another way is to open your mouth more!. The next tip is the song to high or low for you!? If you feel that your throat is stressed, try it in a different octave or a different song!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
