Answers:
starting with the guitar; strat style guitars have a single volume control for all 3 pickups a tone control for the neck pickup and a tone control for the middle pickup (the bridge pickup has no tone control) the 5 way switch on the guitar selects the pickups in this order; all the way forward=neck, back 1 click=neck/middle, back 1 more click (midway position)=middle, back 1 more click=middle/bridge, all the way back=bridge!. leave all the knobs all the way UP for now and experiment with different switch positions!. You'll notice that the bridge pickup sounds very bright and the neck position sounds much 'darker' (bassier) with the middle pickup sounding somewhere in between (of course!)
The amp you describe sounds like it has two channels that each share the tone controls!. The tone controls are bass, middle, and treble, and I think you can figure them out!. Try setting each of them to @ the halfway point (around 5)!. Reverb is that cool echo type of sound that makes your amp sound like it's in a huge room or hall!. Now the tricky part the 2 volumes are for the seperate channels (most likely) there should be a switch next to them!. The gain knob goes with one of the volume knobs!. The gain controls the amount of distortion or overdrive that the amp will produce!.
Okay now lets plug the amps power chord into the wall and plug the guitar into the amp (you need a guitar cable)
DON'T TURN ON THE AMP YET!!
make sure that the volume knobs and the gain knob on the amp are all the way down!
Now turn on the amp and slowly bring the1st volume knob up to @1!. You should hear the guitar!. If not then make sure the channel switch is set for the 1st channel!. Set the volume to a comfortable level and experiment with the pickup selector on the guitar as described earlier!. The amp should be producing a clean sound without distortion!.
Now switch the channel on the amp to the lead channel (A!.K!.A!. drive, or overdrive, or dist!., or boost, or channel2, you get the idea) and starting with the gain knob and the 2nd volume knob all the way down, bring the gain up to about 1/2 or 3/4 way and slowly turn the 2nd volume up to 1 (just barely up)!. The amp should be producing a cool distorted sound (fuzzy, rock type sound!) adjust the 2nd volume to a comfortable level!. Note that the gain knob and the 2nd volume knob work together to affect the volume and sound of this channel!. Less gain = less distortion and lower volume!. More gain = more distortion and higher volume!.
The 2nd volume control allows you to get a lot of distortion(gain way up), without a lot of volume (2nd volume way down)
Use the two volumes to even out the overall volume of both channels so that one channel isn't way louder than the other!.
I hope this helps you! If you are still having trouble than contact me directly!. Good luck!!Www@Enter-QA@Com
