Question: Which rock sub-genre takes the most talent to play!?
It's pretty self-explanatory!. What rock sub-genre requires the most musical talent to play!? This doesn't mean who can play fastest, I'm talking pure musical talent, with the ability to write melodies, rhythms, and the like!.
I say it's progressive!. Bands like Rush, Coheed and Cambria, and Muse are all filled with AMAZING talent!.

I like roots/rock!.
simply because the ability to create free, unpretentious, heartfelt 'simple' music is lost in our superficial society at times!.
Truly aware are the people who care!
It takes true song writing talent to say the sweet meaningful things in a non-cheesy funky earthy way!.
simplicity is often overlooked as 'less than' I say it takes discipline, self control and a acutely refined sense of aesthetic to create the more folk-ie styles of music and not bore the listener to death!! Plus the kind of music I speak of is always felt not learned!.!.!.!.it truly takes soul to express it!
not to mention that groups like Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, the Beautiful Girls, Finley Quay and Micheal Franti are few and far between!.

The band with the most talent I know of right now is Tool!.
They have meaningful lyrics, and pure beauty with their instruments!. The timing is more complex than any other band would try and play!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

This is tough because all genre's have good and bad music!.
I'm going to have to say Ska and Metal!.
Ska because a GOOD ska band should have at least 7 member playing 7 different instruments!. To incorporate whole other components of a band like horns or organs or accordians definitely takes some talent!.
The reason I choose metal is because GOOD metal should have some rythm, melody and good solos!. If you couple all that with their usually lightning fast playing than you've got something that's hard to do!.

I would agree with progressive-art rock/fusion!. Peter Gabriel is good example of melodic and progressive changes using varied instruments and world beat rhythms!. Zappa, Pink Foyd, Yes, Genesis, Tull, ELP!. King Crimson and Rush are all great requiring very talented musicianship!. But the genre has evolved with likes of Tool and Primus both very excellent, as well as the chili peppers and foo fighters too!. One of my favored artist is Jeff Beck as he is a very talented guitarist, very unique and can blend the past R&B, Rock, Fusion and Jazz!. Listen closley to Joanie Mitchel and you'll find excellent muscisianship and very meaningful lyrics float across a melodic plane supported by polyrythums!. All these artist can deliver the very simple and subdude interludes cleanly and beautifuly, while they can also provide driving crecendo manifesto's of sound!. The key is dynamics!. I am a Huge fan of fusion/jazz and the styles of Weather Report, Hiroshima!. Kieko Matsui, Pat Methany, Sade and so many others artist like jaco pastour, billy cobham, stanley clark, brand X, steve hackett!. my first albums I owned was axis bold as love by jimi hendrix and days of future past by the moody blues!.!.!.still favored classics as well as the beatles revolver!. Id better stop because i can go on and on and on and on and on!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
