Remember that great movie!? It's dear to my heart because my dad was a moonshiner(no preaching, you can't sell it if people don't buy it)!. Who sings, "The Ballad of Thunder Road" at the beginning of the movie!? It's not either of the recordings Robert Mitchum made into country hits!. It's also not Johnny Horton as one web said!. He doesn't sing with Johnny's all out aggressiveness!. His voice is soft and slightly folksy and he sings this as a ballad!. Don't bother with YouTube, only Mitchum's first version is there!. It's also not on Wiki or any of the endless sites devoted to this movie!. And just for fun, if they remade this movie who should play Lucas Doolin!? I hope someone comes up with the answer!.!.!. what a great movie! I know the song was written by Robert Mitchum in 1957 and that it is his version that plays when the credits roll at the end, however, it is not him singing at the beginning of the movie!. All the references I have seen just say "uncredited"!. It would be fun to know!.
