for good quality, Epiphones [from Gibson] make some affordable Les Paul's and SG's!.

Usually Japanese or Korean made assembly line guitars are the cheapest, which are usually constructed out of plywood!. If you look on ebay, you'll find guitars for under a hundred bucks!. Expect to get what you pay for though!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
