Is there any way to make it NOT hurt while playing guitar?!

Question: Is there any way to make it NOT hurt while playing guitar!?
I've been playing guitar for a while!. I played my brothers acoustic, but I mainly play my electric!. I now have callouses on the tips of my fingers, but it still kills when I play!. After I finish, I have an imprint of the strings on my fingers!. Am I pressing too hard!? The tips of my fingers get really dark red, kinda purple!. And all my nails are cracked and ripped from!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

My teacher said that's to be expected when you're starting out, but eventually your fingers will get a little more calloused, you'll get used to pressing (the first thing my friend who plays guitar said is "Unless you're breaking strings, there's no such thing as pressing too hard!."), and eventually it won't hurt as much!.

Just an idea: I started learning or nylon strings and the worst that happened was that my hands would cramp up!. It wasn't until I switched to steel that they started to fit your description!. I'm not sure what kind of guitar you have or if it takes nylon strings, but you may want to switch to nylon for now!. The people at the store can help you choose!.

Hope this helps!Www@Enter-QA@Com
