I wasn't going to reply, but that last answer was one of the most a$$holish responses I have ever seen to an honest question that I felt like I had to say something!.

Music comes from inside, sure, but you've gotta learn how to make it come out!. You can't just sit down with an instrument and magically just pooof out comes musical genius!. You have to acquire, develop, and perfect your skill-set!.

The best way to learn how to play an instrument is to get a teacher!. You can teach yourself, but it will take longer and you do run the risk of developing bad habits!.

To learn how to write music you're going to need three things - knowing how to play an instrument, knowing some music theory, and a lot of time to screw around with both!.

I don't know any good music theory websites - i'm self-taught and it took dozens of sites for me to "get it"!. My best suggestion is to google "music theory beginner" or something like that and start slow!.

Music may come from the inside, and inspiration may be this intangible, ineffable quality, but learning more about music, ie the structure, the theory, scales, resolution, consonance/dissonance, etc will help you formulate your thoughts and take your ephemeral musings to the level of proper songwriting!.

Google is your friend!. Expect to put a couple of hours in looking up information, and expect a lot more time digesting what you find!.

You can do it, but it's not an easy thing, especially if you're doing it without a teacher there to guide you along the way!. It'll happen, it'll just take longer!.

Good luck!
