The question asked in order
To save her life or take it
The answer no to avoid death
The answer yes would make it
Make it

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger

All heads are bowed in silence
To remember her last sentence
She answered him knowing what would happen
Her last words still hanging in the air
In the air

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Rachel pulled the trigger

How many will die
I will die
I, I will say yes

Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigge

The song is based on an account about how one of the gunmen at the Columbine school massacre asked this chick Cassie Bernall if she believed in God, she said yes, so he shot her.

The story is unverifiable. The original story was related by her mother in a book she wrote about the incident. Actual eyewitness accounts conflict, most saying that the actual student asked was a different girl, and at least one other saying that none of it actually happened.

Nonetheless, it has become a popular story told among christians as faith-affirming and ... well, I call it pro-christian propoganda, but who's counting? Google "cassie bernall columbine" and you should find out more. Make your own judgement, but at least look at the evidence before you do.

I may not be a fan of calling something true when the evidence for it is dubious, but the song isn't horrible. It's got a decent beat. Not my favorite on the album, and not my favorite song live. I prefer "So I Thought" and really like "I'm So Sick" (i think that's the right title) live.
