Question: For instance, Yellow Submarine.. How talented do you have to be to write lyrics like that? Also how talented could you be to write lyrics like this..

WHY are they considered a "rock" band? Aren't they more like Pop? And why does everyone jump on the Beatles bandwagon and think they're cool for listening to them, I never understood what the appeal of the Beatles were. Look at those lyrics then tell me they are genius or even ''good'', do you agree?

A LOT of talent. You can look at them from two sides. Yes they did write nice little pop songs but they did also revolutionize rock. They're creditted to breaking concept albums into the mainstream and they influenced a huge number of bands today. can you take that away from them?

The Beatles Are Great!
It's not ALL about the lyrics.
The musical and instrumental content is a big factor too. They were talented with their instruments, not JUST because of the lyrics.
Okay, you can call them pop, but back then it was rock. Don't hate them for creating music and allowing other bands TODAY to think of them as a big influence.
If you are all in for lyrics, then fine, you can hate them. But the simple lyrics that they write hold truth to every other ******* song that has twisted words in it that are hardly comprehensible.
uh, no one. the beatles are amazing. the beatles created rock, everyone else messed it up.
They are more like rock in the bluesey guitar kind of way and pop-ey in the vocals. they are the best band ever because they just are. the beatles have a timless sound that will be replicated and inspire music for many years to come. as for the lyrics... i love the beatles lyrics they have serious songs like "Happiness is a warm gun" and fun, sing-a-long ones like Yellow submarine. And no one should listen to music because they think it is "cool" people should listen to music because of the feelings it gives you.

Way to go man, thats 8 songs from a band thats made hundreds
They are considered both pop and rock as well as many other sub genres
I'll give you the fact that those songs are not that lyrically good (outside of all you need is love, the lyrics for that were actually pretty good) But you need to look at songs like Across the Universe, Strawberry Fields Forever, In My Life, and Nowhere Man for lyrical genius
For proof that they can be rock look up Helter Skelter, Revolution, and I Want You (She's So Heavy)
No I do not agree. The Beatles are awesome. Have you heard Strawberry Fields Forever, Let It Be, Revolution, Across the Universe, I've Just Seen A Face . . . those songs are amazing and take tons of talent. Think of the age they were in and to come up with those timeless songs is why they are probably the most important band for music. So you don't have to listen to their music if you don't like it but at least respect it. I LOVE the Beatles :)

not all their songs were very creative but, the songs such as;while my guitar gently weeps, a day in the life, I am the walrus, hey jude, back in the the ussr, revolution, etc are great songs
You have to think back at the time period...you know, before "metal" and heavy genres came to life?
As to if they are good or not: it depends on your intrests.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and what bands and songs they like.
If you think there's a problem with a band's popularity because of certain song lyrics, well, I suppose there's not much a person could do about it, individually.
Have you considered writing your own song, or your own book? Who knows, maybe a tune written in honor of a "Yellow Aircraft Carrier" might go Platinum.
You have it all figured out. Everyone who is anyone considers them to be a Pop band, yet they are considered to be one of the greatest bands of all time. It is too bad that Elvis Presley wasn't around long enough to steal the glory that The Beatles recieved.
Yes, I agree that The Beatles should not be considered a ROCK band. They did not influence the genre of rock as much as Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin did.

I think that the music you like is mostly determined by when, and to some degree where, you grew up.Your taste in music is usually developed between 12 and 24 years old.Musical tastes do change and often expand as you grow older but the songs you listened to in those earlier years are the ones you tend to remember most because of the memories you have for that period of your life.
I believe you could make the same no-talent argument for the lyrics of songs that came either before or after the Beatles.If you are currently a music major in college this might be very important to you....if not you may be taking this whole lyrics analisys thing much too seriously.Everything changes over the years,music,clothes, the way you wear your hair,etc.. My advice would be... listen to music you enjoy and ignore the rest. It would be a pretty dull existence if we all drove a Ford and only listened to the country music.
I totally agree with you. Their lyrics are worthless, meaningless, and a bunch of mumbo jumbo.
Also, the beatles are not rock, and they certainly did NOT create rock as some other user claimed. They were a pop band, and opened the door for boy bands and crappy pop artists to become popular.
Sure, they changed the face of the music industry--negatively and made it possible for talentless theives to become popular and make millions of dollars.
here here! i agree with you 100% my man!. i've never seen what the thing with the beatles is.their songs are simplistic and lame. and i hate to break it to most of you but unless you were born in the 60's or 70's, then you're a bandwagon fan. sorry but a 13 year old nowadays isnt listening to the beatles for pure love of the music. they're doing it because everyone says the beatles are so wonderful. i'll bet if i looked in your cd collections, i wouldnt find one single beatles cd. it's all hype. thats all it is.
