They pretty much helped to define what music is today. They probably did more for music than anyone before them or anyone since.
Forty years later, there music is still very popular. You can hear a few notes of a song, and know exactly what it is, and know every word of the song.
You can listen to them and not be embarrassed by the lyrics. They didn't need to resort to swearing in their music to bring attention to themselves.
How many artists from today, do you think people are even going to remember in 40 years?

I'm not crazy about them myself. Some of their songs are ok, but I was never a Beatles fan.

in that era they came out it was a diffrent type of style of music then..it was a new sound to ppl...they were like a nsync in the 60s..
the beatles are musical geniuses.. they wrote every single song they sang except two. they conveyed real messages of what was happening and they believed in peace and love. if you don't like the beatles... you obviously don't know very much about music or music theory they are and always will be the greatest band.
They are the best band in history. Each of the four members were able to sustain successful solo careers which has still never been done by any other band. They were able to apply to every genre imaginable and their music will probably continue to be played until the end of time.
Btw, comparing the beatles to nsync is the biggest b**** slap in the world and whoever said it should never be allowed to listen to music again
Why would you even ask that question The Beatlles are a music legend from a looooooooooooooong time ago, without the Beatles we would'nt have the great music we have today!
They. Are. Awesome.
They are influential and some songs are good, but let's be honest. They aren't the greatest band of all time. They are good, and I appreciate it that they influenced some of my favorite bands, but it's like saying those huge blocky cell phones that you had to carry around with a pouch are better than ones today. Or it's like saying George Mikan is the best center of all time. Was he great and influential? Yes. But does that make them the best? No.
They have excellent rhythm (most of the early songs). The harmonies between John Lennon and Paul McCartney were good. They blended their voices, like "Don't Let Me Down" and "Day Tripper". George Harrison had good guitar lines, like "Something" and "While My Guitar...".
The silly cartoon imagery of their lyrics fit the druggy counterculture of the 1960's. In fact, they might have invented the counterculture of the 1960's. Yeah, they were great.
